Order Limit combines different rule types in different ways. Quantity restrictions do not always use the strictest value from every matching rule.

Individual quantity rules use list order

When several individual quantity rules match one product, the first active matching rule in All rules takes priority. Use the up and down controls to change the order. For example, a VIP rule allows 4 and a general rule allows 2. If the general rule is first, a matching VIP also uses 2.
Create complementary customer conditions: one rule for customers with VIP and one for customers without VIP. Also check for an earlier general rule.

Product settings merge with the selected individual rule

If a product-level setting and an individual quantity rule both apply, the configured values merge to the more permissive range: the lower minimum and the higher maximum. Variant-level limits still check separately. A blue variant capped at 2 cannot exceed 2 even if the product’s effective maximum is 4.

Combined and cumulative checks are independent

Combined cart quantity and cumulative rules still run. Moving them below an individual rule does not override them. A VIP individual cap of 4 does not bypass a collection combined cap of 3. Four units in that collection are still blocked.

Price, weight and eligibility

All matching price, weight and customer restrictions are checked. Individual quantity list priority does not apply to these categories. The cart must satisfy every applicable check. If results differ from your expectations, follow troubleshooting. Temporarily save unrelated rules as drafts while testing.
