Order Limit has different entries for different goals. Write down who can buy, which products are covered and what threshold each purchase must meet. Start with that goal rather than every available setting.

Match your goal to a recipe

Define four settings first

  1. Product scope: all products, a fixed list or a collection that changes over time?
  2. Customers: everyone, tagged customers, untagged customers or signed-in customers?
  3. Calculation: each product separately or a shared threshold across matching items?
  4. Timing: cart interactions and checkout, or checkout only? Quantity minimums always wait until checkout.
For “up to 3 across a collection,” combined calculation matters. Individual calculation gives each product its own allowance of 3.

Keep similar requests separate

  • A cap of 2 per order is different from a recorded lifetime allowance.
  • A minimum of 6 allows 7; it does not enforce multiples of 6.
  • Price rules do not change prices, add discounts or create free shipping.
  • Purchase eligibility does not hide product pages, prices or collections.
  • Weight checks do not split parcels, calculate shipping or select carriers.
