How Shopify amount limits and currency conversion work
Understand current item amounts, product scope and store-currency thresholds. Configure minimums or ranges and test discounts, markets and customer tags.
Price limits check the current combined amount of applicable merchandise. Set a minimum, a maximum, or an amount range.
Uses the current line amount available during validation; test your actual discount combinations
For a coffee collection minimum of 100, coffee worth 80 plus a mug worth 50 still fails if the mug is outside the collection.
A specific-product or collection rule does not require customers to buy from that range when their cart contains no matching items. Equality with a minimum or maximum satisfies that threshold.
Enter thresholds in the shop’s base currency. At checkout in another market currency, thresholds use Shopify’s checkout conversion rate and the checkout currency’s precision. For example, a base-currency threshold of 100 converts to 120 at a rate of 1.2. This is an example rate, not a fixed rate.
Add one or more tags and choose matching or non-matching customers. Any one matching tag counts as a match. Guests whose tags are not identified fall into the non-matching group.Every matching price rule is checked. The first-match priority used by individual quantity rules does not apply to price rules.Try a minimum merchandise amount or separate wholesale and retail thresholds.
For a maximum only, leave the minimum blank. For a range, fill both values with the maximum at least as large as the minimum. Equal boundaries pass. Test below minimum, at minimum, at maximum and above maximum using the launch checklist.
